چکیده

The aim of this paper is a nontrivial application of certain classes of probability distribution functions with further establishing the bounds for the least root of the functional equation x = b G(μ− μx) (or similar functional equations appearing in queueing problems), where b G(s) is the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of an unknown probability distribution function G(x) of a positive random variable having the first two moments g1 and g2, and μ is a positive parameter satisfying the condition μg1 > 1. The additional information characterizing G(x) is that it belongs to the special class of distributions such that the difference between two elements of that class in Kolmogorov’s metric is not greater than κ. The obtained result is then used to establish the lower and upper bounds for loss probabilities and continuity theorems in certain loss queueing systems with large buffers.

Hessian Stochastic Ordering in the Family of multivariate Generalized Hyperbolic Distributions and its Applications

In this paper, random vectors following the multivariate generalized hyperbolic (GH) distribution are compared using the hessian stochastic order. This family includes the classes of symmetric and asymmetric distributions by which different behaviors of kurtosis in skewed and heavy tail data can be captured. By considering some closed convex cones and their duals, we derive some necessary and s...

Comparsion Between Several Distributions of Exponential Family and Offering Their Features and Applications

‎In this paper‎, ‎first‎, ‎we investigate probability density function and the failure rate function of some families of exponential distributions‎. ‎Then we present their features such as expectation‎, ‎variance‎, ‎moments and maximum likelihood estimation and we identify the most flexible distributions according to the figure of probability density function and the failure rate function and f...

Multi-Objective Lead Time Control in Multistage Assembly Systems (TECHNICAL NOTE)

In this paper we develop a multi-objective model to optimally control the lead time of a multistage assembly system. The multistage assembly system is modeled as an open queueing network, whose service stations represent manufacturing or assembly operations. The arrival processes of the individual parts of the product, which should be assembled to each other in assembly stations, are assumed to...

A : Elements of Queueing Theory

APPENDIX A: ELEMENTS OF QUEUEING THEORY In a packet radio network, packets/messages are forwarded from node to node through the network by entering a buffer (queue) of a certain length in each node and waiting for their turn to be transmitted to the next node. Also, call access to a network with a given capacity is modeled as a process with certain distribution of call arrival times and certain...
